Longbush Wines 2020 MERLOT

| /

Dark berry fruit with hints of cloves and vanilla overlaid with memories of the forest floor. The Merlot grape like the Kiwi is an icon of humble, quietly powerful secretive charm.

7km from Gisborne, on the banks of the Waimata river, the Longbush Eco-Sanctury is restoration project that will create a haven for endangered birds and plants. Anne and Jeremy Salmond, with the support of many friends and family, have embarked on this intrepid journey. Visit and support them at www.longbushreserve.org

This is delightfully fruited and fragrant on the nose showing dark plum, spiced cherry, thyme, clove and almond characters. It's succulent and plump on the palate, delivering lovely rounded mouthfeel and silky texture, leading to a lengthy smooth finish. Well composed and harmonious with spicy complex flavours. At its best: now to 2024.
