Longbush Wines 'Native Bird Series'
Methode Traditionelle Series
Longbush Wines is a family company located in Gisborne, New Zealand, that produces 30,000 cases of wine each vintage across a range of wine labels for the domestic and export markets.

Owner, John Thorpe, has been winemaking for 25 years and still finds the annual harvest exciting and challenging, "there are always new developments in the business, different weather patterns effecting harvest and new markets to explore". Longbush now has a team of winemakers and Marketer's that provide a formidable depth of knowledge and experience.

Longbush Wines gets it’s name from a winding stretch of native forest called LONGBUSH, that runs beside the Waimata River in Gisborne, New Zealand. This land has been restored into an eco-sanctuary for NZ native birds and plant species. John’s elder sister Dame Anne and her husband Jerry Salmond own the Sanctuary. Annie is a professor of Anthropology and in 2014 she was awarded New Zealander of the Year - a great honour.

The selection of wines Longbush produces plays to the regions strengths, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Viognier and Merlot of which a Merlot-Rose is also made. Longbush also produce their own Methode Champanoise under the Cosmos, Eclipse and Luna brands.

Longbush Wines have won numerous awards including a Gold Medal/Trophy for The Family Company 2016 Gisborne Gewurztraminer at the 2017 NZ International Wine Awards. Silver Medal for the Longbush 'Bird Series' 2017 Pinot Gris at the 2017 Air NZ Awards, Gold Medals and Catagoriey winners for Viognier and Gewürztraminer at the Gisborne Regional Wine Competition. Gold Medal from Bragatto Wine Awards for Gewurztraminer. Gold Medal from New Zealand International Wine show for Viognier. Our Longbush Merlot has been selected for Economy Class Air New Zealand pacific.

The Kiwi Juice Company was established in Gisborne in 2014 by Longbush Wines winemaker John Thorpe.  John recognises the great opportunity created by the abundance of fruit produced here in Gisborne. As a result the goal of The Kiwi Juice Co is to create healthy juices from the surplus fruit, that have no preservatives, no concentrates and no added sugars.
"Many people are unaware of the diversity of fruit that is grown and exported from this region plus that it is harvested almost year round. What is well known however is that Gisborne fruit, due to our climate and fertile soils, has the best flavours". John Thorpe
The Kiwi Juice Company's first release 'First Press' is a grape juice is quite simply pure grape juice in a convenient recyclable bottle. They recognise that many people, when drinking sociably, prefer a non-alcoholic drink ... First Press offers them this choice served as it is, nicely chilled, or as a mixer with soda or tonic water.
