The Family St Laurent 2011
This little known Austrian grape is the darker cousin of Pinot Noir; it has crimson and ruby hues with an abundant spicy Pinot-like aroma of blackberry and black cherries. It also mirrors its elegant cousin with a silky finish. Will cellar well.
Our fruit was sourced from the Central Valley in the heart of Gisbornes grape-growing regions. Classic red-winemaking techniques were employed to ferment the wine, and matured in predominantly older French barriques with some charry toasted new oak to balance the fruit. Aged for 4 months. This wine continues to age gracefully with silky tannins supporting a strong fruit cast.
